During a full facelift procedure, an incision is made near the ear and extends into the hairline at the temple and behind the ear. After making the incisions, the skin is separated from the deeper soft tissues using special scissors above the cheeks and neck. The soft tissues are then tightened and sutured, with any excess tissue removed if necessary. Some fatty tissue in the chin and neck area may also be removed during the procedure. Next, the skin is tightened, and the plastic surgeon determines how much excess skin should be removed. After the excess skin is excised, the incisions are closed, and the area is covered with a special adhesive strip. Incisions are placed within natural creases, making postoperative scars less noticeable and easier to conceal. The surgery typically lasts about 3–5 hours. After the procedure, the face is bandaged with a special dressing, and a compression mask is applied.
