Who Takes Care of the Woman Who Takes Care of Everyone Else?

Jul 16, 2026Longevity7 min to read

A new approach to wellness travel designed to help women reconnect with their bodies, reduce stress and recover more deeply.

At first glance, it may seem that you have it all: a successful career, professional recognition, work you genuinely enjoy, a loving family – a life that appears perfectly in place. Yet behind that picture lies another side of everyday life. Your mind is constantly occupied by work, unanswered emails and pressing deadlines, while at the same time you are managing household responsibilities, your family’s needs and the lingering feeling that you’ve forgotten something important.

Living in a constant state of alertness, carrying everything on your shoulders, often means placing yourself at the very bottom of your own list of priorities. Over time, the pace becomes exhausting, and the strain begins to show. Your complexion loses its glow, your skin its firmness, and fatigue becomes visible in your eyes. At that point, rest is no longer an indulgence that can be postponed – it becomes essential if you want to restore your energy and reconnect with yourself.

But, according to Žaneta Fomova – entrepreneur, psychotherapist, wellness practitioner and founder of Tour de Med – this is exactly where many women encounter an important question: what kind of rest do they actually need?

Why Isn’t an Ordinary Holiday Enough?

A holiday may offer a change of scenery, but it does not always restore your inner balance. If your body has been functioning in a prolonged state of stress – sleep deteriorates, fatigue accumulates, digestion becomes disrupted, the immune system weakens and resilience to stress declines – a weekend at a spa or a few days by the pool may simply not be enough for genuine recovery.

Žaneta knows this from personal experience.

I first noticed the signs of severe exhaustion after several particularly intense periods working in a senior management role at an outdoor advertising agency. Responsibilities don’t disappear when you close your laptop.

Alongside work, there are your home, your children, their illnesses and everyday life, which doesn’t simply pause because work becomes demanding. I took holidays several times, expecting to return refreshed, but my body no longer recovered.

I felt constantly exhausted and began getting ill more and more often. That’s when I realised that ordinary holidays were no longer enough – I needed real recovery, she recalls.

According to Fomova, it is far easier to prevent burnout than to rebuild your inner reserves once they have been depleted. For women who lead busy, demanding lives, it is important not to wait until their bodies force them to stop.

True recovery begins when, even if only for a short while, a woman no longer has to carry everything herself – from work responsibilities and family commitments to planning what her own rest should look like.

It is precisely this need that has fuelled the growing popularity of wellness retreats. Today, they are about far more than spa treatments, massages or luxury hotels. They are carefully designed experiences that focus on sleep, movement, nutrition, emotional regulation, recognising the early signs of stress and developing sustainable daily habits.

According to the psychotherapist, these retreats are not about escaping everyday life for a few days, but about returning to it with greater energy, stronger inner balance and practical tools for taking care of yourself long after the holiday has ended.

When Your Recovery Is Guided by an Experienced Mentor

Having experienced prolonged stress and burnout herself, and drawing on her professional expertise in psychotherapy and wellness, Žaneta has created a unique women’s wellness retreat.

The retreat will take place from 24 to 31 October at Villa Eden, an exclusive wellness retreat in Merano, Italy.

Throughout the seven-day programme, centred on movement, active recovery and mindful living, Žaneta will lead educational sessions focusing on nervous system regulation and burnout prevention. Participants will learn practical techniques for recognising the body’s early warning signals, calming the chronic “fight-or-flight” response and caring for themselves before fatigue develops into complete exhaustion.

Equally important is the atmosphere itself – one where women no longer have to be responsible for everyone and everything.

As the founder of Tour de Med explains, being surrounded by women who understand what it means to constantly care for others, meet everyone’s expectations and always remain available creates a rare sense of relief. Here, participants are invited to let go of their usual roles. There is no need to lead, organise or look after everyone else. Instead, they are free simply to be, to rest, to move, to talk or to enjoy silence.

It is a space where women can hear themselves again and remember that their own wellbeing is not a luxury, but the foundation of their strength.

A Week Dedicated Entirely to Your Wellbeing

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Italian Alps, Villa Eden combines restorative relaxation with medical consultations, personalised nutrition and advanced wellness programmes.

Every day has been thoughtfully designed so that guests no longer need to think about schedules or responsibilities. Their only task is to allow their bodies to slow down, regain strength and rediscover a sense of ease.

Mornings begin with movement – either guided hikes through the surrounding mountains or yoga sessions. During the day, participants will explore a deeper understanding of their health through medical consultations, the personalised The Eden Blueprint programme, chrononutrition plans tailored to their individual needs, spa rituals, swimming pools, saunas and targeted wellness treatments.

Evenings offer leisurely walks around Merano, educational sessions led by Žaneta Fomova, meaningful conversations and gourmet dinners created by a fine dining chef.

Yet the greatest value of this retreat lies not only in its spectacular setting or carefully curated programme.

Women will leave Villa Eden with far more than beautiful memories. They will return home with a deeper awareness of their bodies, the ability to recognise the earliest signs of stress and practical strategies for taking care of themselves before fatigue turns into burnout.

If your body has been asking you to slow down for some time, this wellness retreat in the Italian Alps, taking place from 24 to 31 October, may be the opportunity to finally listen. As places are limited, early booking is recommended.
